A Rising Figure in Anti-Immigration Advocacy
Hugo Lennon, known online as ‘Auspill’, has recently come under scrutiny for his role in organizing a series of anti-immigration rallies across Australia. As the heir to a multimillion-dollar property fortune, his public stance on immigration has sparked significant debate, particularly given his family’s deep ties to the real estate sector.
Lennon is the grandson of Tony Lennon, a former chairman of Peet Limited, one of Australia’s largest property development companies. At 82 years old, Tony has been listed multiple times on Western Australia’s top-50 rich list, with an estimated net worth of up to half a billion dollars. His father, Anthony Lennon, currently serves as a non-executive director at Peet Limited, which holds one of the largest residential landbanks among ASX-listed property groups.
This connection has led to criticism from some online creators who question the credibility of Lennon’s housing advocacy. Despite this, he has amassed over 80,000 followers on TikTok within just over a year, using his platform to promote his views on immigration.
The March for Australia Rallies
Lennon has been a vocal advocate for reducing mass immigration, calling on his followers to attend the upcoming ‘March for Australia’ (MFA) rallies scheduled for August 31. He claims that these protests are a peaceful way for Australians to express their concerns about immigration, which he believes exacerbates the country’s housing shortage.
“The march will be a peaceful event advocating for something virtually every Australian agrees on: that immigration has to be reduced,” he stated. “Australians have been ignored on immigration for a long time and that’s gonna come to an end because on the 31st Australians will voice this majority opinion to have an end to mass immigration.”
Organizers of the MFA rally argue that endless migration, weak leadership, and political cowardice have strained the housing supply and altered the country in ways most Australians never agreed to. One flyer read, “It’s time to take our country back. It’s time to defend our way of life. It’s time to defend our culture. Stop mass immigration now.”
Controversial Associations
According to news.com.au, Lennon’s ‘Auspill’ account was previously listed as a moderator and administrator of the MFA Facebook group. However, he recently claimed that his account was removed because the MFA did not want to be “connected to any one name and thus any one set of politics.”
He explained that the reasons provided by MFA were broad, reflecting the organizers’ and supporters’ diverse political backgrounds. Concerns around mass immigration include issues such as housing shortages, demographic change, infrastructure strain, environmental impacts, water supply shortages, and fractured social cohesion.
The MFA has made efforts to distance itself from radical figures, including the leader of the National Socialist Network, and has expressed concern over fringe players attempting to hijack the event. In a recent statement posted to the MFA Facebook group, Lennon emphasized that Australians have been sidelined on the issue of mass immigration, which he claims has transformed their “way of life.”
A Call for Change
Lennon argued that the benefactors of mass immigration have set the policy, deciding the numbers, types, and discussions allowed, all while millions of Australians are ignored for decades. He criticized the political class for disregarding the clear and settled will of the Australian people on a matter that directly affects their daily lives.
“To ignore the voice of the nation is not merely folly; it is to tear at the very foundation of consent on which our democracy rests,” he said. “Australians are being told by their rulers that they must bear the burden of a transformation they never sought and do not consent to, a transformation that strikes at the heart of our national character and way of life.”
Daily Mail has contacted both Lennon and Peet Limited for further comment.
