Honoring Lives of Faith and Service

Mr. Flaviano Yiryel Naaeke, who was born in 1929, was known for his deep commitment to the Catholic faith. His leadership in the church choir and active involvement in various church organizations were notable aspects of his life. He and his wife, Priscilla, represented the Diocese of Wa at the 43th Eucharistic Congress in Nairobi, Kenya, in 1985, where they received the Pope’s blessing. This experience deeply influenced his life and the lives of those around him.

His home also became a hub for the Knights of St. John International in Nandom, highlighting his role as a community leader. As a civil servant at St. Francis of Assisi Girls Secondary School, Jirapa, he demonstrated unwavering dedication to his work, leaving a lasting impression on colleagues and students alike.

Mrs. Priscilla Piile Naaeke, born in 1931, was a cherished member of the family and the community. Her service to the Christian Mothers Association was remarkable, and her creative talents in bead making, soap, and shea butter production were widely appreciated. She was also known for her storytelling and singing, especially in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary. As a nurse and housekeeper at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Jirapa, she exemplified compassion and generosity, teaching the family the importance of caring for one another.

Remembering the Firstborn and the Devoted Son

Ms. Mary Asunta Naaeke, the firstborn of the family, was born on February 14, 1954, and passed away on September 16, 1980. She was remembered for her simple nature and exceptional cooking skills, which aligned perfectly with her profession as a Home Economics Teacher. Her contributions to the family and community were significant, and her memory continues to inspire.

Mr. Marcellinus Naaeke, the second child, was born on June 2, 1956, and passed away in July 2012. Known for his strong community ties and dedication to God, he was affectionately called “Master Key” by friends and students. Though he lived a solitary life for some time, he eventually married and left behind three children. His legacy of community service and engagement remains a source of inspiration for many.

A Time for Reflection and Gratitude

The Naaeke family expressed their gratitude to Most Rev. Bomansaan for accepting their invitation to lead the Mass. They view this event as a moment of both sorrow and joy, a way to honor the heroic lifestyles of their departed loved ones.
