Nigeria to Host Global Gas Investors at 2025 Gas Investment Forum
Nigeria is set to welcome a global audience of gas investors and industry leaders this October for the 2025 edition of the Gas Investment Forum (GIF). The two-day event, scheduled to take place in Lagos, will serve as a key platform for discussions on investment, growth, and industrialization within Nigeria’s gas sector. President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Energy, Olu Verheijen, will deliver the keynote address and act as the Chief Host for the forum.
The event director, Osaze Isesele, confirmed these details in a statement released in Abuja on Monday. He highlighted that the forum has evolved into a central hub for strategic dialogue around Nigeria’s gas monetization agenda and energy-driven industrialization efforts.
Key Speakers and International Participation
The lineup of speakers includes prominent figures from both the Nigerian and international energy sectors. Among them are Ed Ubong, Coordinating Director of the Decade of Gas Secretariat; NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber; and Akachukwu Nwokedi, President of the Nigeria Gas Association. Other notable participants include Wole Ogunsanya, Chairman of the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria, and Andrea Stegher, President of the International Gas Union.
Additional speakers include David Oluseyi Ige, Non-Executive Director at NNPC Ltd and CEO of GasInvest Ltd; Abiodun Ogunjobi, Group Chief Technical Officer of Panocean Newcross Group; Eyono Fatayi-Williams, President of the Women in Energy Network; Damilola Owolabi-Osinusi, CEO of Selai Gas Station Ltd; and Oga Adejo-Ogiri, Executive Secretary of the Association of Local Distributors of Gas.
Strategic Focus and Government Support
Themed “Charting New Opportunities for Investment, Growth & Industrialisation,” the forum aims to bring together government officials, policymakers, investors, and energy executives to deepen discussions on Nigeria’s gas monetization strategy and its role in driving industrialization and energy security across West Africa.
Osaze Isesele emphasized that the event is endorsed by the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources and co-hosted by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission. This collaboration ensures strong alignment between the government and industry stakeholders.
“The Gas Investment Forum has become a central platform for strategic dialogue around Nigeria’s gas monetization agenda and energy-driven industrialization efforts. It provides an unparalleled opportunity for collaboration between policymakers and the private sector,” Isesele stated.
Trade Exhibition and Regional Ambitions
In addition to the main conference sessions, the 2025 edition of GIF will feature a vibrant trade exhibition. This section will allow local and international companies to showcase innovative solutions, technologies, and investment-ready projects to potential partners.
Organizers highlighted that the forum will also support West Africa’s broader ambitions of leveraging natural gas for sustainable development, energy transition, and regional integration. By positioning Nigeria as a global hub for gas-driven industrial growth, the event seeks to attract significant investment and foster cross-sector collaboration.
Future Projections and Industry Growth
Earlier projections indicate that Nigeria and other Sub-Saharan countries will account for 92% of the continent’s total natural gas demand growth by 2050. Nigeria alone is expected to add over 75 billion cubic meters of gas between 2023 and 2050. This growth is driven by increased gas-fired power generation, industrial expansion, and the development of petrochemical and fertilizer production facilities.
The region’s natural gas sector is poised to play a transformative role in addressing energy and development challenges. With a focus on sustainable development, energy security, and regional integration, the Gas Investment Forum serves as a critical platform for shaping the future of gas in West Africa.
