Travelers amazed after stumbling upon nun-run lodging

A Hilarious Holiday Mix-Up on TikTok

A group of young Australian travelers found themselves in a unique and amusing situation while vacationing in Italy. Best friends Chlo, Rahnn, Luc, and Char, who are well-known for sharing their travel adventures on their TikTok account @themidmessess, recently posted a video documenting an unexpected experience that has since gone viral.

In the clip, they revealed that they accidentally booked a chapel hosted by nuns instead of their intended holiday accommodation. The video, which has received over 250,000 views, shows the group arriving at the building and knocking on the large door. They were greeted by a woman dressed in traditional nun’s clothing, complete with a cross necklace.

Despite realizing they had made a mistake, the group decided to enter the chapel, hauling their suitcases through wide corridors and polished tile floors. As they explored the space, things took a bizarre turn when they were led to their room—a neon blue-lit space featuring a life-sized statue figure watching over the beds. One of the friends could be seen covering her mouth in shock as she observed the surroundings.

Another part of the clip shows one of the group members using Google Translate to communicate with one of the nuns, who listens calmly but doesn’t seem particularly amused by the group’s confusion. By the end of the video, the group appears to have packed up and left the accommodation earlier than planned.

In an accompanying caption, they wrote: “The nuns were sooo beautiful but wasn’t suited to our holiday, oops.” The video sparked a wave of reactions from viewers, with over 1,100 comments shared. One viewer commented: “This is actually such a safe place for women to stay and avoid overseas crime targeting vulnerable tourists.” Another noted: “I stayed in the exact same place two years ago and it was wonderful, the nuns are so lovely and the views were breathtaking.”

One perplexed viewer asked: “As someone in tourism for 15 years, I genuinely need to know how you saw this listing and never crossed your mind that well there’s nuns there?!!! How?” Meanwhile, another joked: “At lunch the nuns were discussing which of you won best outfit of the day.”

A Different Kind of Holiday Surprise

While the group of friends experienced a unique situation, another couple’s dreamy Italian getaway also took an unexpected turn in July. Felicia Svensson, a finance assistant based in Gothenburg, Sweden, traveled with her partner to Baveno, where they checked into the Grand Hotel Dino. This four-star hotel offers rooms with balconies and panoramic views across Lake Maggiore and the surrounding area.

However, the couple encountered a dramatic twist after pulling back the curtains on their balcony door. In a hilarious video uploaded to Felicia’s TikTok page, @feliciasvenssons, Felicia’s partner is captured dramatically sweeping open the curtains to reveal a charming table and two chairs perfectly positioned in front of a breathtaking scene.

This incident highlights the unpredictable nature of travel and the unexpected moments that can turn into unforgettable memories. Whether it’s accidentally booking a chapel or discovering a surprising view from a balcony, these experiences often become the most talked-about parts of a trip.

Other stories have also emerged about unique travel experiences, such as how an Australian couple ended up in a lush wedding venue instead of a hotel during their Italian adventure. Some have even questioned whether a dream hotel stay could turn into a viral nightmare with millions of views. Additionally, two sisters transformed an ordinary Ontario property into a cozy real-life ‘Gilmore Girls’ retreat, captivating TikTok and travelers alike.

Another intriguing story involves a four-star Italian hotel where a ‘breathtaking’ balcony view turned out to be nothing more than a colossal poster. These tales remind us that sometimes the most memorable parts of a trip are the ones we never expected.
